# How to view and download chat transcriptions from video visits

## In this article, you'll learn how providers and patients can view and download the chat transcriptions that MediSprout automatically generates after each video visit.

During a video visit, the chat function allows the provider and the patient to exchange messages. When the visit is complete, MediSprout creates a transcription of that chat and stores it automatically in the patient’s details.

Transcriptions of all chat messages are available for patients to read or obtain as part of their medical records.

**For patients**, from the MediSprout app main menu, select **Visits** and then **My past visits**. At the bottom of this page, select **Visit message transcriptions** to view a list of all available visit transcriptions. Select the transcription you are looking for to view and download.

**For providers**, from the **Visits** dropdown menu, select **Past visits**. At the bottom of the page, look for **Visit message transcription**. Select a chat message transcription to view or download.
